The school has a well-equipped medical dispensary under the control of a permanent doctor. All cases of injury or illness receive immediate medical attention. Whenever specialized medical aid is required, emergency transport is available to take the student to the hospital. All students receive regular medical examinations and our dispensary works in close conjunction with the Department of Health and Medical Services.
There are two well-resourced libraries, the Primary Library and the Secondary Library, that provide students with a wide array of resources, information and ideas that are fundamental to functioning successfully in today’s information and knowledge-based society.
The school features three fully-equipped science laboratories that aims to employ a ‘hands on’ approach to Science both in the laboratory and outside, inspiring the students curiosity in the world around us.
We encourage independent thinking by empowering students and providing them with the tools to investigate problems and find the answers.
The ICT department aims to provide students with a wide range of software skills and basic theoretical knowledge of ICT.
In Key Stage 3 students will refine and enhance skills in each of the major software applications. In Key Stage 4 skills will vary depending on the course studied, but will enable students to have basic skills to either go into the workplace or to complete further ICT studies.
Housed in a specific class room in the school with high ceilings and ample natural light, pupils gain experience in drawing, painting and printmaking through the study of both historic and contemporary art practice.
Encouraged by the Cambridge Are and Design syllabus which includes a wide range of abilities, materials and resources allowing the teaching staff to be fully exploited.

Music plays an important part in the life of our school. The primary goal of this department is to promote music as an art, through self-discipline and self-expression.
UHS aims that all pupils leave the school having had a positive and enjoyable experience of the physical education programme. The skills and understanding they acquire will enable them to follow a healthy lifestyle long after they have left school.

They are a fundamental part of the school’s ethos and as such are viewed as an important part of our core curriculum.
