Unity High School
Unity High School has a rich history and, having been founded in 1902, is one of the oldest English speaking schools in Africa. There are around nine hundred students across all Key Stages. We broadly follow the British National Curriculum and offer Cambridge IGCSE and A Levels. The school is well resourced but we will need your resourcefulness too.
Unity High School lies at the very center of the historical city of Khartoum where the Blue and White Nile meet, so be prepared to be in the thick of things. It is a fascinating city with plenty of sporting, travel and cultural activities to get involved in. Khartoum is full of friendly people and is extremely stable and safe; you will be made to feel very welcome. It is of course hot and dusty and you cannot expect the same conditions that you may be used to, but that is the challenge and the opportunity. You will never regret having spent time in Sudan.
What we offer
If you come you can expect an experience that you will never forget. It won’t always be easy; there will be frustrations as well as the positives. But opportunities to work in such a country like Sudan do not come round often. We offer an initial two year contract, annual flights, accommodation, health insurance, discounted school places for dependent children, initial visas, a good salary paid in sterling and a local living allowance. If your motivation is financial then this is probably not the position for you. But if you want the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of our students and to the wider school community, and to have a fantastic experience doing it, then it most definitely is.
Please look at our website, which is being updated but will still give you all the information you need. Ideally, please apply directly and as soon as possible by letter and CV to Joe Davey, Principal, at email@example.com including a copy to firstname.lastname@example.org. The exact dates for interviews are to be arranged but will be from early March on-wards in the UK, via Skype and possibly in the Middle East. Please include contact details on your application and also the contact details of three referees. Experienced teaching couples, single teachers, families and NQTs are all welcome to apply.
